An Indian-origin woman from Hyderabad has been arrested in Dubai after airport authorities discovered drugs in her luggage. Her family insists she was unaware and is seeking urgent assistance from India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

  • Name: Ameena Begum Mohammed Ayub (23), resident of Kishan Bagh, Hyderabad

  • Date of Travel: May 18, 2025 — traveled to Dubai via job assurance from a local agent for work at a beauty parlor

  • Arrest: Upon arrival, drugs were reportedly found in her bag; she was arrested and detained

  • Family’s Claim: Ameena’s mother says her daughter was duped and entrusted the bag to a stranger without knowledge of its contents

  • Appeal: The family has submitted a heartfelt plea via X (Twitter) to EAM S. Jaishankar and is also in touch with Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate in Dubai, seeking legal help and safe repatriation

  • Personal Note: Ameena’s mother expressed concern about Ameena’s 5-year-old son, Mohd Zeeshan, who has reportedly fallen ill since separation

The family and community advocates are calling for swift diplomatic action, citing the possibility of human trafficking and legal exploitation through deceptive agents.
Authorities from MBT (Majlis Bachao Tahreek) have amplified their request for intervention.
Ameena continues to maintain her innocence and is reportedly distraught and desperate to return to India.
